Issue report

You can view summaries of your GitLab issues with customizable report templates.

To open GitLab issue reports, click DevOps > Issue Report.

You can also click DevOps > Issues, click More actions for issues, and click Open as Tab.

The tab is titled Issue Report. Opening it from the DevOps menu starts on the Report Gallery; opening the activity as a tab starts on the List report.

The Report Gallery is the only place reports are chosen. The toolbar keeps the filter on the left, and the centre holds a single Close Report button while a report is open. There is no view dropdown, so nothing can disagree with the gallery about which report you are looking at.

The Report Gallery presents every available report as a card with a miniature preview, the report’s name, and a short description of what it shows.

GitLab issue reports are grouped into Layouts, Milestone, Date, Assignment, and Overview. Dependency reports are not listed because the GitLab issue provider does not supply the required dependency relationships.

  • Click a card to switch the tab to that report.
  • Move between cards with the arrow keys, and press Enter or Space to open the focused report.
  • Reports the provider does not support are not listed.
  • If a report is temporarily unavailable, its card remains visible and shows the reason. The gallery itself remains available because it describes reports rather than summarizing data.

Click Close Report to come back to the gallery. The button appears only while a report is open, because there is nothing to close while the gallery is already showing. To move from one report to another, close the current one and pick the next from the gallery.

What report cards show

The Cards and Board reports show the first assignee’s avatar and name. If an issue has more assignees, a +N count follows. The name matters because an avatar without an image falls back to an unexplained initial.

The Roadmap report groups issues by milestone. Each group header shows N of M complete and a progress bar. Open issues come first. Closed issues follow under Completed (N).

Filter issues

The issue report displays all issues in a repository by default. Use the filter control to select a filter template. Click Show or hide filters to open or close the filter panel. You can filter issues with multiple filters at a time. Click Switch to Advanced Query to use GitLab search syntax to apply filters.
