Connect a CLI agent

You can connect a Command Line Interface (CLI) agent to Zide to launch interactive sessions with repository context directly from the app.

CLI agent profiles are either auto-detected by Zide or added manually.

Auto-detect a CLI agent

To add a CLI agent profile to Zide automatically, complete the following steps.

  1. Click Terminal > CLI Agent Profiles.
  2. In the CLI Agent Profiles dialog, click Auto-detect. If a CLI agent is not detected, ensure that your CLI agent is configured and active on your local machine.
  3. Click Done.

If an auto-detected CLI agent moves, for example after you reinstall it, click Auto-detect again. Zide updates the path of the agent and keeps its profiles.

On macOS and Linux, if your login shell is zsh, bash, or sh, Zide starts CLI agents through that shell. The agents get the PATH that the shell’s startup files set. A tool such as nvm is available when those files load it. For bash, Zide reads the login files, such as .bash_profile, so they must load .bashrc if nvm is set up there.

Manually add a CLI agent

To add a CLI agent profile to Zide manually, complete the following steps.

  1. Click Terminal > CLI Agent Profiles.
  2. In the CLI Agent Profiles dialog, click Add Profile.
  3. In the New CLI Agent Profile dialog, enter the name of the CLI agent profile in the Name field.
  4. In the CLI System field, select Custom….
  5. In the Command field, enter the path or command name for the CLI agent.
  6. In the Arguments field, enter any arguments for the CLI agent.
  7. Click Save, then click Done.

Edit a CLI agent

To edit a CLI agent profile, click Terminal > CLI Agent Profiles. In the CLI Agent Profiles dialog, click the Edit profile icon next to the profile you want to edit.
