Bitbucket Overview

You can use the Bitbucket Overview tab to view your Bitbucket repository metadata and quick links, and to make the repository public or private.

Open Bitbucket Overview

To open the tab, click DevOps > Bitbucket Overview. When more than one remote is on a supported Git host, the DevOps menu lists those remotes under Sources. Point to the remote and click Bitbucket Overview. The tab title then includes the remote name, for example Bitbucket Overview (upstream).

The top of the Bitbucket Overview tab shows the owner and the name of the repository, its description, and a Private or Public badge. Bitbucket does not report stars, forks, or open pull request counts, so the Bitbucket Overview tab does not show them.

Below this, the Bitbucket Overview tab has the Languages, Repository Info, Visibility, and Open in Browser sections. To close or open a section, click its heading. Zide remembers the sections that you close and keeps them closed in the Bitbucket Overview tab of every project.

Languages

If the repository has a language set in Bitbucket, the Languages section shows it at 100%. Bitbucket does not measure the languages that the files are written in.

Repository Info

The Repository Info section lists the following information about the repository.

  • Default Branch: The default branch of the repository.
  • License: Bitbucket does not send the license to Zide, so it shows None.
  • Created: The creation date of the repository.
  • Last Push: The date of the last update on the repository.

Visibility

The Visibility section tells who can see the repository. When the section is closed, its heading shows the current visibility.

To change the visibility, complete the following steps.

  1. In the Visibility section, click Make Public or Make Private.
  2. Read the consequences in the dialog. To make the repository public, type its full name, for example workspace/repository.
  3. Click Make Public or Make Private in the dialog.

Zide updates the Bitbucket Overview tab, the visibility in the window title, and the project’s access. If your Zide plan does not include private repositories, making the repository private locks the project. The dialog tells you before you confirm.

Only repository admins can change the visibility. Members with write access see the buttons unavailable, with the reason.

Your Bitbucket API token must also grant admin on Repositories. If it does not, the Visibility section tells you. Create a token that includes this permission, then connect the Bitbucket account again in Settings > Git Accounts. For more information, see Bitbucket authentication.

If Bitbucket does not accept the change, for example because of a workspace or fork setting, the Visibility section shows the reason. The visibility does not change.

Open in Browser

The Open in Browser section links to the repository’s pages on Bitbucket: Repository and Pull Requests. The Bitbucket Docs link opens Bitbucket’s documentation for help with Bitbucket itself, rather than a page in your repository.

Click a link, or select it and press Enter, to open the page. By default, it opens in the built-in Web Browser tab.

If your Bitbucket account is not connected, or the repository details cannot load, the tab shows the reason and the Open in Browser section.
